|COVID-19 ALERT: The library is now staffed Mon., Wed. and Fri. from 8-4, but librarians are available to assist patrons ONLINE during normal business hours and full-text databases are accessible 24/7 to VDOT employees from this site.|
During the COVID-19 pandemic VDOT has experienced a massive shift to telework for employee safety. One new tool to help VDOT employees stay connected is Microsoft Teams, a virtual collaboration platform that includes document sharing, online meetings, and many more useful features for business communication. Some VDOT employees may find it helpful to use Microsoft Teams from a home computer. One example might be if you have a better camera/microphone on that device, though you may just appreciate the flexibility of being able to log in to Microsoft Teams from multiple devices. It's not hard to do! Simply follow the steps in this guide to install Microsoft Teams on a personal device outlined in the tabs above.
What is Microsoft Teams?
Microsoft Teams is a unified communication and collaboration platform that combines persistent workplace chat, video meetings, file storage, and application integration. It became available to VDOT employees in March 2020 as VDOT adapted to the COVID-19 pandemic. Teams facilitates meetings and other forms of collaboration for VDOT employees, many of whom now find themselves teleworking from home offices. A webinar was held for the SharePoint Users group providing basic information about why Teams was rolled out, access in Teams, and how to upload documents in Teams. Here are the PowerPoint slides from that Webinar.
