Using Microsoft Teams From Home: Home

This guide shows VDOT employees how to load Microsoft Teams on a personal or "home" computer or other connected device.

Overview:

Some VDOT employees may find it helpful to use Microsoft Teams from a home computer. One example might be if you have a better camera/microphone on that device, though you may just appreciate the flexibility of being able to log in to Teams from multiple devices. It's not hard to do!  Simply follow the steps in this guide, which are outlined in the tabs above.

What is Microsoft Teams?
Microsoft Teams is a unified communication and collaboration platform that combines persistent workplace chat, video meetings, file storage, and application integration. It became available to VDOT employees in March 2020 as VDOT adapted to the COVID-19 pandemic. Teams facilitates meetings and other forms of collaboration for VDOT employees, many of whom now find themselves teleworking from home offices.

More Information:

A webinar was held for the SharePoint Users group providing basic information about why Teams was rolled out, access in Teams, and how to upload documents in Teams. Here are the PowerPoint slides from that Webinar.
