Knovel: Quick Start Guide: Register

Knovel is available to all VDOT employees but to maximize your use we recommend following the steps to create an account. From the VDOT network, go to https://vdot.idm.oclc.org/login?url=http://app.knovel.com

If you want to use Knovel from a device that is not on the VDOT network, you must register an account to do so.

Here's why it's a good idea to create an account regardless: Most of the best features of the Knovel interface will only work for users who register an account, including features. Plus, the registration process is free, simple and you only need to do it one time.

To create an account, follow these steps:

Step 1: Go to Knovel and in the upper right where it says "Welcome Virginia Department of Transportation" look for the "Create Account" button: 

Step 2: Fill out the online form and be sure to use your VDOT e-mail address:

Check the box at the end to accept Knovel's terms and privacy policy statements, and click the "Create Account" button to finish the process.

You will be prompted to confirm your user name/password via e-mail. Should you ever need to recover that password you will do so with Knovel, not the library.
