Using the EBSCO Mobile App: Apple Device Installation

Step 2:

After installing the app, select "Get started"

Step 3:

Using "Find your institution"

Type "VDOT" and select "Search"

Step 4:

Select "Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT)" and then select
"Connect your institution"

Note: It does not matter where your particular VDOT office is located.

Step 5:

You'll see the message shown here.

Select "Continue" 

Step 6:

Next you will be prompted to enter your Virtual Library Card credentials.

Box 1: Enter your VDOT E-mail address 

Box 2: Enter your library card password

Note: Your library card password is not the same as your VDOT network password.

Step 7:

You should now be in VDOT's EBSCO subscription, where you can enter search terms and see results. 

Example: A search for VDOT reveals a scrolling list of articles as shown.

Step 9:

As noted, selecting "Read Now" displays all your article format options.

"Full text" options vary article to article.

In the example shown here the options are:

Read (HTML)
Read (PDF)
Listen (PDF)

Note: Select the "<" arrow (upper left) to go one step back if needed.

From the previous step we selected the "PDF" option, which looks like this.

Note: In the case of smartphones, it may be easier to read article content using "html" if that option is provided.

Note: Your library card password is not the same as your VDOT password.

In this step you may be prompted to use your Apple "Touch ID" (as shown) which is a quick and easy layer of security.

Note: You will only see this if you have used this device to log in to a VDOT Library subscription in the past.

Step 8:

You should now be in VDOT's EBSCO subscription, where you can enter search terms and see results. 

Example: A search for VDOT reveals a scrolling list of articles as shown.

Step 9:

Select a citation you are interested in The screen displays the abstract, and has a button that says "Read Now"
which displays all your options for accessing the article.

Note: Select the "<" arrow (upper left) to go one step back if needed.

Step 10:

Select the format option you want.

Example: "Full text" options vary article to article. In the example shown here the options are:

Read (HTML)
Read (PDF)
Listen (PDF)
