'Open Access' Articles Now Easy To Spot In TRID

Open Access (translation "free") articles just got easier to find in TRID. Just look for the open lock icon. 

 

Thanks to ongoing development by the Transportation Research Board, the TRID database now makes it way easier for users to spot and get the full text of "Open Access" journal articles. 

 

What's Open Access you ask?  Check out this nifty research guide we created on Understanding Open Access to learn more. 

 

These days, lots of journals publish some Open Access articles in their collections. You may have noticed that from browsing the library's subscription to ScienceDirect, which contains thousands of OA articles. 

 

While there are some transportation journals that are 100% Open Access like these, there are many more that have an OA article here or there.  The symbol to look for is that orange lock icon. 
 

In the case of TRID's new Open Access content, TRB has decided to only add open access icons for journals that publish all content under some version of an Open Access license.  Such titles include:
