The VDOT Research Library Users Group (LUG)

Library Users Group Purpose:

The Library Users Group meets twice a year to explore ideas related to the delivery of library and information services that will enhance productivity and professional development at VDOT. The group's purpose is to help improve library efficacy by: 

  • Helping identify unmet information needs (within the scope of current collections and services) and helping identify underserved VDOT employee groups. 
  • Serving as a sounding board for new ideas and emerging trends in library and information needs at VDOT and nationally.
  • Helping Library staff align collections and services with the highest needs and priorities of VDOT personnel.
  • Providing input on potential expansions of or changes to library collections or services.  
  • Facilitating coordination of library activities with key information management activities occurring in other parts of VDOT. 
  • Serving as Alpha or “Usability” testers to help improve new or existing library resources and services.
